I'm still catching up with all the blogs since I was away and today I read all your entries. Lovely, lovely photos......and sad ones (the tree!)

I was saddened to see the demise of the tree Libby. The catkins put a smile on my face however, I don't think we have them here...I remember them fondly though from when we lived in the UK.

I plead ignorance. I never heard of Catkins before. Are Catkins and Pussy Willows in the same family? Just thought about cats and pussycats,,

Ah yes - catkins - a great shot Libby - yours look much bigger than the ones on the tree at the fish farm that I visited the other day.

Great shot.

Are they on a filbert tree or something else? Lovely shot.

I've heard of these but I don't think I've ever seen any before today.

Catkins & pussywillow are from different trees!
Pussywillow comes from the plant Salix Caprea (goat willow) and Catkins can be found on a number of trees, hazel and some varieties of willow!
