I must apologise for all the 'flower' pics, but with the weather as it is, I took the opportunity to 'stock' up when I went to the garden centre yesterday!!!

Why do I have only purple crocus in the garden when I planted white, yellow and purple?

I have got into the habit of always popping the camera in my pocket when I go out into the garden, on Saturday it paid off, as I snapped this!

This was at the garden centre, my neighbour has 2 very large Camillia's which are always covered in buds, but I have yet to see it flower as it always gets hit by the frost! This is the first time I have seen a flower open and I understand now, why he keeps trying, its such a perfect bloom!

This is what 'true' primroses look like. I love the delicate yellows that vary slightly from plant to plant!

This is 'Bree' my Barnvelder Chicken. A rare photo of her as she is totally stupid and anytime she is approached she runs off in the opposite direction like a headless chicken!!

At my favourite garden centre again! A contorted willow sorry I don't know the Latin Name even though there is a big book in the kitchen I could look at, just being lazy!!!!!!

Number 52, Auricular Flower.

Auricular. I think they are from the primrose family. People rave about them because of the intricate patterns on the petals. They don't do a thing for me!!!

I took this on my trip to the garden centre the other day! To me primroses should be that lovely pale yellow, I don't like all these, but I wanted some colour in our mono-chrome month!!

I took this at about 07.30 this morning!! This is exceptionally early, last year our first was in March! Sadly I expect this to be killed by any frost!!!

Number 44, Graaff-Reinet

This is one of the many places we stayed whilst on holiday in South Africa in 2004.
Drostdy Hotel, Graaff Reinet. We had been travelling for quite a while and this was our treat as it was not a cheap place to stay, but it was so lovely. The flowers are Bouganvillia.

Some history of the place:-

The residence of a landdrost (rural magistrate) was known as a Drostdy and included his office and courtroom as well as his family's living quarters. The Graaff-Reinet drostdy was built in 1806. It has been fully restored and is now the focus of a unique hotel complex. The hotel and reception are in the drostdy whilst guests stay in the restored mid-19th century cottages built for freed slaves along Stretche's Court (my photo above).

I really must take some more/new photos for this blog! The problem? The 2 x 128mb and 1 x 256mb memory cards are FULL!!!! How do people take so many photos????? A trip to the photo shop to put them on disc is in order!!!!
