I found this when I was out for a walk the other day, but the batteries gave up! So off I went again yesterday!!
Any ideas what it is???

Fascinating....some sort of fungi that looks like rotting leather?
I can't decide if it's fungi, as Ruth said, or some kind of mud home for an insect colony.
Strange! I wish I could see it in person. Is it near anything or just by itself? It looks sorta like a fungus on a tree.

Yep - it looks like a decaying leaher glove...

What sort of tree was it? It looks like a canker of some kind.
I think it looks like some sort of fungus too. the area at the bottom looks sort of like a wasp nest entrance.
I don't know, I give up.

It looks like the remains of an owl to me, but I have been accused of having an over active imagination..!
